THE STORY
This 1992 VP Clubsport, build number HSV227, had been sitting neglected for some time before I took it on as a project.
One of the encouraging things about the car was that the body was better than expected. The main rust issue was around the rear window, and that repair has now been completed. The body has also since received a new paint job, giving the car a much cleaner and more finished appearance.
A bigger part of the project has been the electrical system, as much of the wiring and associated components had been removed before I acquired the car.
One of the best surprises was finding that the important HSV details were still there. The car retained its HSV badges and modifications, including the distinctive four-spoke Momo steering wheel, which gave the project a very good starting point.
With the rust repairs and paintwork now completed, HSV227 has come a long way from the neglected car it once was. It is still a work in progress, with the remaining work focused mainly on the electrical side and completing the final stages of the restoration.
